Who is Eligible to Participate in the Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet Pathway to Prevention Study?

Anyone between the ages of 1 and 45 years old who has a brother, sister, child, or parent who has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes*.
OR
Anyone between the ages of 1 to 20 years old who has a cousin, niece, nephew, aunt, uncle, half-sibling or grandparent who has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes*.

*For the purpose of this study type 1 diabetes is defined as having been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes before age 40 years and having started insulin therapy within one year of diagnosis. If you have multiple family members with diabetes, only one needs to meet these criteria. If none of the members of your family meet this criteria but you believe you have a family member with type 1 diabetes, call us as you may still be eligible but we will have some additional questions.

Individuals may be rescreened annually until age 18. Individuals over age 18 are only offered autoantibody testing once if their results do not show diabetes-related autoantibodies.

Not sure if you are eligible? Please give us a call toll-free at 1-888-813-8669 or email us at TrialNet@joslin.harvard.edu to find out.
